Stability addicts can keep quiet, PHP 5.3.3 is still the standard version provided with RHEL-6.

RHSCL 1.0 users can also keep quiet, the php54 collection is still there. It's even enhanced with the Zend OPcache extension (php-pecl-zendopcache).

We'll soon have an official and supported way to install PHP version 5.4 or 5.5, beside the system version, without any effect on installed components. Announcement tells the life cycle will be 3 years.

It's a beta version, published for evaluation purpose.

RHEL clones (CentOS, Oracle, Scientific Linux, ...) users can use the test Copr repositories:

• rhscl/php54
• rhscl/php55

For users who need more extensions, as I'm waiting to be able to add them in  EPEL, I have open 2 Copr repositories with those already adapted (some others should come soon).

Apart from PHP, RHSCL 1.1 is enhanced by some nice collections, I especially appreciate Apache 2.4 and MongoDB (by the way the pecl/mongo is available in the php55 collection).

I think this is a very important new feature which should help for the adoption of recent PHP version in enterprise environment.
