MySQL version 5.5.11 (which is GA for some time) now replace version 5.1.56 in the remi repository for Enterprise Linux.
Old RPM of version 5.1.56 are still available for download in the archives (manual installation).
New RPM of PHP 5.3.6 (release -3) are build with this new MySQL version.
If you wish to update PHP, without upgrading MySQL, this is possible, you just need to install the version 5.5 of the client library before PHP.
yum --enablerepo=remi-test install compat-mysql55

Is it possible to upgrade mysql from 5.1 to 5.5 with php 5.2.17 installed ?
@thomas, please use the forums, which are a better place for question/assistance
Yes, it's possible. php-mysql will use the compat-mysql51 (yum should pull it automatically).
Sorry for posting here again.
But with the yum I get.
[Errno -1] Package does not match intended download
on all 4 packages
I tried it with
yum --enablerepo=remi --exclude=php*5.3*,*i386* update mysql
metadata issue is now fixed
Must run
